This image/text piece targets students and young adults who rely on AI for school, social media, and everyday tasks. The collage blends a data center into cracked, dry ground, paired with the headline “AI Runs on Water” to connect AI’s virtual feel with its physical dependence on electricity, cooling systems, and huge amounts of water. The design uses clipping masks, stroke, and drop shadow to make the text stand out, while research from EESI shows that large data centers can consume up to 5 million gallons of water per day—the same as a town of 10,000–50,000 people. The goal is not to say AI is all bad, but to make its hidden environmental costs visible.

This campaign extends my “AI Runs on Water” image/text project into a social media set for students and young adults who use tools like ChatGPT every day. Through a hero post and a 7‑slide Instagram carousel, it explains that AI feels weightless on our screens, where every time you type a question into ChatGPT, a glass of clean drinking water is silently poured into the desert sand. The visuals repeat a collage system and key statistics to build one clear argument across multiple posts: AI isn’t “bad,” but its physical footprint should be visible so we can use it more intentionally.
